Sponsorships for Colleges and Universities

The Vanderbilt Television News Archive’s collection is accessible for academic research through our sponsorship program. Colleges and universities located in the United States are invited to become a sponsoring member of the archive. Students, staff, and faculty at sponsoring institutions can view content from the collection after logging into our website. Additionally, the academic community at sponsoring institutions receive a discount on advanced data analysis and consultation services through Vanderbilt’s McGee Applied Research Center for Narrative Studies.

Content Available to Sponsoring Members

Starting in the Fall of 2025, sponsoring members are no longer limited to viewing a subset of the collection, and instead have access to content from all of the major news networks! The collection contains content from CBS, ABC, and NBC beginning on August 5, 1968. Over the years, the archive expanded to preserve content from CNN (1989), Fox News (2004), MSNBC (2024), and NewsMax (2024). Sponsoring members can view content from our core collection of evening news and supplemental coverage of national elections, presidential speeches, international conflicts, and more.

Getting Started

If you are a student, faculty member, or librarian interested in access to the archive, please fill out this Discovery Meeting Inquiry Form and we’ll be in touch about scheduling a virtual meeting. We can provide further information about the institutional sponsorship agreement, pricing for the annual membership fee, and options for a trial period.

Your Support is Needed

Our sponsoring members directly support the pursuit of our mission to record, preserve, and provide research access to these important pieces of media. The Vanderbilt Television News Archive continues to serve as the most comprehensive collection of off-air news broadcasts of the U.S. national television news networks.
