Schedule a Research Visit

The Vanderbilt Television News Archive is open to the public and visitors are welcome by appointment only. Please submit an appointment request through our contact page at least 48 hours in advance.

We are open for research appointments Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding Vanderbilt University University Official Holidays and Closings.

Conducting your Research

There is no fee to visit the archive, including watching videos. During your appointment, you can search and view content from  the entire collection. However, downloading or recording content is prohibited.

While not required, it can be helpful to let archive staff know in advance what you’re interested in viewing in order to give us time to locate relevant content.

The archive currently has two computer terminals for video viewing, including headphones. Each terminal also has space for a personal laptop or notepad for notetaking.

Schedule a Tour

The staff of the archive is happy to host groups for in-person or virtual informational sessions, including an overview of the archive’s history, examples of past and ongoing research projects utilizing the collection, and a brief tour of our operations. Please inquire about a group tour through our contact page at least one week in advance.
